The Plastic Age

This project explores the idea that plastic is now, irrevocably, a part of our natural landscapes.

The Plastic Age refers to a scientific theory that, as
plastic pollution has now entered the fossil record, we have entered a new geological epoch - the Anthropocene.

This is a proposed geological epoch that marks the time since humans began having a significant effect on the Earth’s geology, atmosphere and ecosystems.

This layer of plastic in the stratum (layers of rock or soil) could potentially mark the first age of the Anthropocene.

Geological time: Eon > Era > Period > Epoch > Age

The paradoxical beauty of these images confronts the viewer with this new reality, in which we all now live.
